What program/company have you found most useful for skip tracing, trying to collect old debts?? Thanks for any assistance anyone can give me with this.

There is no one program. You need to evaluate each program and weigh them on their on merits. The databases are really great, if you know what you are reading. Many people do not understand what they are reading and if they do, they do not take the time to verify the information.

Steve I agree. Like I said before we (I work for a skip trace Vendor) train for free and we find that at the agency level, to be allowed to train the users is pretty hard because they do not want them to come off the phones for more than 15-20 minutes. The customers who allow us to train on a regular bases often find better results because their collectors understand what the system is saying.

Bill, I also agree with you. There are a lot of times I see data come in all over the place such as half of the file has the name order different than the other half. As a prior IT person the more you can send information in a uniform manner the better the data will perform.

Eric,
You can offer to do what I do. Offer to train on the weekends so it does not take anyone off the phones. Granted many companies do not want to pay the overtime, but if they would consider the fact with the proper training they will make back their investment probably within a week, locating more skips.

Hi Angel,
XML Web services are another way to go. The company I work for, CDYNE, provides Web services that your IT department codes (easily) into your system, no matter what system you use. The services automatically access real-time demographic data from public and private sources, verify phone numbers and addresses, and dial debtors. You can also perform reverse lookups with a 411 service or run people against the SSA Death Index to weed out deceased persons/identity theft. The services are offered a la carte and you only pay for what you use - it's very inexpensive and easy to implement and works directly with your database instantaneously (and securely) so you don't have to worry about uploading or waiting for online services to process things. Very good for queue management. No contracts or sign-up fees or anything and free testing. Just another option if you don't want to invest in software packages.
